KUET hosts three-day international conference ICCESD 2026

KHULNA, Feb 7, 2026 (BSS): Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) hosted the three-day 8th International Conference on Civil Engineering for Sustainable Development (ICCESD 2026), which concluded on Friday night.

Organised by the Department of Civil Engineering, the conference was supported by Poles and Concrete Limited (PCL), Kadamtali Steel Mills Private Limited (KSML), Glori Poles Limited (GPL) and Seven Rings Cement.
The closing ceremony was held at the Department of Civil Engineering on Friday evening. 

Conference Secretary Professor Dr HM Iqbal Mahmud delivered the welcome address, while Conference Chair and Professor of Civil Engineering Dr Kazi Hamidul Bari delivered the vote of thanks. Closing remarks were made by Professor Dr Md Zahir Uddin, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering.

Over the three days, a total of 335 research papers were presented in 42 technical sessions, with four papers receiving best paper awards.

Scientists, researchers, engineers and planners from Bangladesh and several other countries participated in the conference both physically and virtually.

Earlier, the inaugural session was held on Thursday morning, where KUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Maksud Helali addressed the programme as chief patron.

BUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr A B M Badruzzaman spoke as chief guest, while Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department Md Khalekuzzaman Chowdhury addressed the event as special guest.

The session was chaired by Conference Chair Professor Dr Kazi Hamidul Bari.
