National Library Day observed at RUET

RAJSHAHI, Feb 7, 2026 (BSS) - National Library Day-2026 was observed at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) today with the theme "Knowledge is Freedom, the Foundation of the Future."

Marking the day, the university organised a colourful rally and a discussion meeting.

Vice-Chancellor Professor SM Abdur Razzak attended the programme as chief guest, while teachers, students, officers and staff participated in the events.

A rally was brought out from the university's central library and concluded in front of the administrative building. Later, a discussion meeting was held at the university hall room.

The programme was chaired by Acting Librarian Mahbubul Alam. Deans of various faculties, directors, department heads, office and section heads were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, VC Professor SM Abdur Razzak said libraries play a vital role in building a knowledgeable and enlightened society. He added that books make people enlightened and prosperous.

He also said libraries are not only centres of information but also serve as hubs of cultural and recreational activities, adding that public libraries should be established in every union to bridge the information gap.
