Education Ministry begins MPO registration for 1,719 educational institutions

DHAKA, Feb 08, 2026 (BSS) - The Ministry of Education has started the initial process of enrolling 1,719 private educational institutions (schools and colleges) across the country in the first phase of MPO. 

The ministry said that a letter has already been sent to the Finance Department seeking consent for the MPO enrollment of those institutions, which are evaluated through automated software.

This information has been revealed in a press release issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the ministry today. 

The release said that a total of 3,615 applications were submitted when applications were invited in line with ‘Private Educational Institutions (schools and colleges) Manpower Structure and MPO Policy-2025’. 

Of those, 859 are from lower secondary level, 1,170 from secondary level, 687 from higher secondary level, 440 from undergraduate (pass), 414 from undergraduate (honors) and 45 from postgraduate level institutions, it said.

The Ministry of Education said that based on the criteria, regional parity and grading set out in the policy, 1,719 institutions have been initially identified as eligible for MPO inclusion in the first phase. 

The notification stated that before making the final list, the information submitted with the application will be verified through the online database of the Ministry of Land, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, the concerned education board and the National University. If necessary, an on-site investigation will also be conducted, it added.

The ministry said that the entire process of MPO registration is being completed with utmost transparency through automated software. There is no scope for any personal communication or financial transaction. 

If any individual or group tries to make unethical contact or has any complaint in this regard, the notification has requested to inform the Department of Secondary and Higher Education through a text message on the specified WhatsApp number (+8801339-774528).
