
RANGPUR, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS) – Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali has said that the university has set a shining example of communal harmony and religious coexistence.
“Students, teachers, officers and employees of all religions are working together in a harmonious environment in the university,” he said.
He said this while officially inaugurating the construction of the central temple of the university by laying the foundation stone and unveiling the plaque on the west side of the football field of the campus this afternoon as the chief guest.
The Vice-chancellor said that the central temple is being built at BRUR to facilitate religious practice and worship for followers of the Sanaton religion as a reflection of the non-communal spirit.
“I firmly hope that the construction of the central temple will be completed quickly and smoothly,” he said.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Professor Dr Suman Kumar Debnath, Librarian of the Central Library and Information Center Dr Md Moniruzzaman, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Dr Pradeep Kumar Sarkar, Assistant Professor of the Department of Sociology Ram Prasad Barman, Lecturer Deepika Biswas, along with students, officers and employees were present at the event.
