EC postpones results of three constituencies

DHAKA, Feb 13, 2026 (BSS)- Election Commission (EC) has decided to put off the results of three constituencies in the 13th national parliament election.

The seats are Sherpur-2, Chattogram-2 and Chattogram-4. 

The results were postponed due to legal issues of the winning candidates, said senior assistant secretary of the EC Secretariat Md. Shahidul Islam said. 

The Commission in separate notification said it is legally obligated to withhold the publication of results until the final disposal of the relevant cases.

Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Februaty 3, 2026 allowed candidate Mohammad Aslam Chowdhury from Constituency 281 (Chattogram-4) to contest in the poll, disposing a writ petition filed by him with the High Court Division. However, the court said the result of the election will remain suspended until the case is finally settled.

Responding to a writ petition of Sarwar Alamgir, candidate of Constituency 279 (Chattogram-2) the Appellate Division delivered the similar order allowing him to contest in the election but holding the result until the final disposal of the case.
  
The Appellate Division accepted writ petition of Mohammad Fahim Chowdhury, candidate of the Constituency 114 (Sherpur-2) allowing him to contest in the election, however final result will be announced subject to the disposal of the pending case.
