JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Feb 13, 2026 (BSS) - The Nationalist Teachers' Forum (NTF) of Jahangirnagar University (JU) today congratulated Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its Chairman Tarique Rahman for a landslide victory in the 13th national parliamentary election.

In a congratulatory message signed by NTF President Prof Dr Md ShamsulAlam and General Secretary Prof Md Jamal Uddin, the forum said the people's verdict delivered through a democratic process reflected long-standing political aspirations, grievances and the collective desire for change.

The statement paid tribute to the contributions of BNP founder and former President Ziaur Rahman, recalling his role in restoring multi-party democracy, promoting nationalist ideals and laying the foundation for a self-reliant economy.

NTF also remembered former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia for her leadership in democratic movements and parliamentary politics. The forum prayed for eternal peace of their departed souls.

The teachers' body also remembered those who were killed and injured during the July 2024 mass uprising, saying their sacrifices for democracy, justice and dignity would be remembered with gratitude.

Expressing hope for the future, the forum said under Tarique Rahman's leadership the country would advance towards strengthening democratic values, rule of law, accountable governance and inclusive economic development.

NTF said empowerment of marginalized communities, improvement in the quality of education, technology-based employment generation and social justice should be the key indicators of development.

The statement called upon citizens, irrespective of political affiliation, to work together in building a stable, participatory and rights-based state where freedom of expression and equal protection under the law are ensured for all.
