DHAKA, Feb 16, 2026 (BSS)- Agriculture Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that the current relief in the country’s agricultural sector is the result of the combined efforts of its all stakeholders .

“The agricultural sector is now in a better position than before,” he said.

He made the remarks while addressing a farewell reception organized by the departments and organizations under the Ministry of Agriculture at the auditorium of the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council in Khamarbari, Dhaka.

Chowdhury also mentioned that prices of agricultural products remain at a tolerable level, adding that fertilizer stocks are currently stronger than at any previous time.

In his speech, the adviser highlighted the initiatives undertaken over the past one and a half years to ensure food security and build a sustainable, farmer-friendly agricultural system.

He noted that despite facing significant challenges — including a fertilizer crisis and repeated flood damage in several regions — the sector has rebounded strongly.

Emphasizing the importance of targeted support, Chowdhury stressed that agricultural incentives must be distributed properly.

He urged authorities to identify genuine beneficiaries and ensure timely delivery of incentives.

The adviser also called for adopting more farmer-friendly projects, ensuring proper utilization of subsidy funds, reducing excessive fertilizer use, and strengthening monitoring mechanisms to guarantee fertilizer sales at government-fixed prices.

Expressing gratitude, he thanked officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and its affiliated departments and agencies for their cooperation during his tenure.

The farewell reception was presided over by Agriculture Secretary Dr. Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian and attended by heads of various departments and agencies under the ministry.
