DHAKA, Feb 23, 2026 (BSS) - Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam today urged all officials to dedicate themselves to the interests of the state and perform their duties with honesty and integrity.

He made the call while addressing the closing ceremony of a seven-day induction training course for 32 newly joined officers of the 44th BCS (Roads and Highways) cadre at the conference room of the Road Transport and Highways Division.

The minister said that after completing their training, the new officers will be fully engaged in performing their duties. “The state has developed you as engineers for its needs, and this understanding must always guide your work,” he added.

Rabiul Alam noted, “It is not easy to dedicate ourselves to the interests of the state, as there will be various obstacles. However, young officers can bring positive changes if they are committed.”

Reminding the officials that state funds are ultimately the people’s money, he stressed that overall public interest must take priority. He emphasized the importance of preventing waste in construction works, ensuring rational expenditure, and maintaining transparency in infrastructural development.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and efficiency, he said the sincerity and honesty of the new officials will be their main strength. “Performing duties with honesty and ethics is the hallmark of a true official,” he added.

In his speech, special guest State Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Habibur Rashid said, “We must build the future of Bangladesh together. Young officials are the leaders of that future.”

Pointing to the importance of road safety, he added that road closures affect millions, stressing the need to keep traffic smooth, construction costs reasonable, and infrastructure safe.

He expressed hope that under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, a safe and humane Bangladesh will be built through the combined efforts of young officers and experienced personnel.

State Minister Md Rajib Ahsan urged the officials to work with utmost sincerity and honesty.

Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Dr Mohammad Ziaul Haque, Roads and Highways Department Chief Engineer Syed Moinul Hasan, and Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited Managing Director Faruque Ahmed, among others, were present at the event.
