13th Parliament to sit in first session on March 12: Salahuddin

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed spoke to journalists after a meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Bangladesh Secretariat today.

DHAKA, Feb 22, 2026 (BSS)- Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said the 13th Jatiya Sangsad will sit in its first session on March 12.

Election to the Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be first agenda of the sangsad session, he said.

Besides, several important issues, including approval of the ordinances issued by the interim government, will also be placed before the House, he said.

The Home Minister said this while replying to questions of media people after a meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Bangladesh Secretariat here today.

Home Minister said, a summary regarding the session will be sent from the National Parliament Secretariat to the Prime Minister’s Office and subsequently to the President. 

The President will then formally summon the parliament session in consultation with the Prime Minister.

A condolence motion is also scheduled to be placed before the House alongside the presidential address.

Responding to a question regarding changes in the top level of the police force, he said there are many plans on the table which will be implement step by step.

Referring to the attack in an RMG factory in Adabar in the capital, he said the authorities have been informed and a thorough investigation has already been ordered.

“If the incident is confirmed, we will take strict and decisive action,” he added.
