3 killed in seperate road accidents in Dhaka

DHAKA, Apr 4, 2026 (BSS) - Three unidentified persons were killed in two separate road accidents in the capital's Jatrabari and Wari areas in the early hours of today.

In Jatrabari, two men aged approximately 50 and 60 were killed when a truck collided head-on with a battery-run auto-rickshaw in front of Mirhajirbagh Kacha Bazar around 1:00 am.

Locals rescued the critically injured victims and took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared them dead at around 2:15 am.

Eyewitness Mohammad Khairul Islam said the speeding truck rammed into the auto-rickshaw, throwing the passengers onto the road. 

Local residents later detained the truck and its driver.

Inspector Mohammad Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said the bodies have been kept at the morgue for autopsy and the matter has been reported to the concerned police station.

In a separate incident, an unidentified youth aged about 25 died after being hit by a reckless vehicle in front of Bangabhaban in the Wari area. 

The accident occurred around 12:45 am . 

He was rescued by locals and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at around 10:00 pm while undergoing treatment.

Sub-Inspector Mohammad Main Uddin of Wari Police Station said the vehicle fled the scene after the accident.
 
Efforts are underway to identify the victim, and the body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy.

Police said legal actions are being processed in both cases.
