Tribunal issues arrest warrants against 18 in Wasim killing case

DHAKA, April 07, 2026 (BSS) – The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 today issued arrest warrants against 18 people, including former ministers Hasan Mahmud and Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nowfel, in a case filed over the killing of six individuals, including Chhatra Dal leader Wasim Akram, during the July Mass Uprising in Chattogram. 

The prosecution on April 5 submitted the formal charge against a total of 22 accused in the case. Of them, four, including former lawmaker ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, have already been arrested and are now in jail.
 
The tribunal today passed the order after taking cognisance of the formal charge submitted by the prosecution. The second tribunal is led by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury. 

Earlier, on April 2, the tribunal’s investigation agency submitted its probe report in the case, bringing three charges against the accused.
