Fugitive arrested in Khulna Jubo Dal leader murder case

KHULNA, April 7, 2026 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested a fugitive accused in the murder of Jubo Dal leader Murad Khan in Khulna. 

The arrestee was identified as Masud alias Baka Masud, 34, son of Baka Mia, a resident of Senhati area under Dighalia upazila. 

RAB said a joint team of RAB-6 headquarters and Bhatiapara Camp conducted a drive on Monday around 4:05pm based on secret information and apprehended Masud near Jhama Government Primary School under Mohammadpur Thana in Magura district. 

According to the case statement, on February 27, Baka Masud, along with 11 named and 12-13 unidentified accomplices, attacked Murad Khan near Bakshi Bari Technical Training Centre with sharp weapons and iron rods, leaving him critically injured. 

He was taken to Dighalia Upazila Health Complex and later to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where he died around 6:20pm the same day. 

Murad Khan's wife, Jannatul Mawa, filed a murder case with Dighalia Police Station against the accused and others. 

RAB officials said Masud has been handed over to Rupsha Police Station for further legal action.
