DHAKA, April 7, 2026 (BSS) - Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chatra Dal today brought out a rally on the Dhaka University (DU) campus welcoming newly admitted students for the 2025-26 academic sessions.

The rally, led by Chhatra Dal leader Shaikh Tanvir Baree Hamim, began in front of the university's Central Library and marched through key points of the campus before ending in front of the DUCSU building.

During the procession, participants chanted slogans such as "Productive education is Chhatra Dal's commitment," "Safe campus is Chhatra Dal's commitment," and called upon freshers to join under the banner of the organisation.

A brief gathering was held in front of the DUCSU building after the rally, where Tanvir Baree Hamim, former GS candidate of the Chhatra Dal-backed panel in the DUCSU 2025 election, addressed the new students.

In his speech, he said the newly admitted students and their guardians now appear relieved and joyful on campus, contrasting it with an atmosphere of fear and anxiety during his own admission period due to harassment in the name of "gonoroom" and "guestroom" practices.

He also alleged that many who were involved in repression on campus in the past have now reappeared under different organisational identities.

Hamim said Chhatra Dal remains committed to promoting tolerance, progressive politics and a student-friendly, safe campus environment.

Among others, DU Chhatra Dal Joint Secretary Mousumi Sheikh, Sports Secretary Md Saif Ullah, Surja Sen Hall unit convener Monowar Hossain Pranto, Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall convener Towhida Sultana, Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall convener Maliha Binte Abonti, Sergeant Zahurul Haq Hall convener Hasibur Rahman Asif, Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall convener Gazi Zahidul Islam, Shahidullah Hall Member Secretary Junayer Abrar, and over a hundred students were present at the programme.
