230,000 pieces of yaba seized in separate operations at Ukhia-Teknaf border

DHAKA, April 7, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 230,000 pieces of yaba in separate anti-drug operations at Ukhia-Teknaf border areas of Cox's Bazar district.

A patrol team of Jimbangkhali BOP of BGB's Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) recovered 10,000 pieces of Yaba and a local weapon in a raid conducted in the border area of responsibility this morning. 

In addition, a patrol team of Hoi Kyung BOP seized 20,000 pieces of yaba in a raid at the border area of responsibility. 

On the other hand, another special operation by Hnila BOP recovered 2,00,000 pieces of yaba. 

The estimated value of the seized drugs is around Tk 3 crores.

Besides, in the last one month, 3,900 kg of fertilizer was seized and six accused were arrested in separate operations in Hoi Kyung of Teknaf and Palangkhali of Ukhia. 

Regular cases have been filed against the arrested and handed them over to the nearest police station.

In this regard, Lieutenant Colonel Md. Zahirul Islam, Commander of Ukhia Battalion, said, "BGB is always in a strict position not only in protecting the border but also in preventing drugs and smuggling."

Such operations will continue in the future as well, he added.
