DHAKA, April 7, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator freedom fighter Abdus Salam today said mosquito control chemicals -- liquid Malathion and Temephos -- have proven 100 percent effective in tests conducted by the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research and the Department of Agricultural Extension.

"To ensure city residents benefit, proper application of these chemicals at the field level must be ensured," he said while inaugurating a training programme for mosquito supervisors and workers at Nagar Bhaban here this morning.

He said controlling Aedes mosquitoes remains a priority and urged workers to perform duties with responsibility and dedication.

A total of 1,050 supervisors and workers from 10 DSCC zones are receiving training in five batches.

The programme includes practical lessons on mosquito life cycle, species identification, disease prevention and safe use of insecticides and modern equipment.

DSCC CEO Md Zahirul Islam and Secretary Mohammad Nasim Ahmed were present.
