DHAKA, April 8, 2026 (BSS) - Indonesia-based multinational company Japfa Pte Ltd has expressed keen interest to increase investment in Bangladesh's agriculture and poultry sectors.

The expression of interest came today during a meeting between Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir and Japfa Pte Ltd Executive Chairman Renaldo Santosa at the Ministry of Commerce in the city, said a press release.

The discussion focused on bolstering bilateral trade relations, expanding investment opportunities, and fostering mutual cooperation for economic development.

During the meeting, Santosa highly praised Bangladesh's growing market, its promising agricultural potential, and the investment-friendly environment currently prevailing in the country.

He highlighted that Japfa has been investing in Bangladesh since 2020 and has already established production activities in the poultry feed sector.

These operations are conducted under the supervision of the local Bay Group, he added.

Santosa also shared the global scale of the company, noting that Japfa currently maintains an annual turnover of approximately $4.7 billion.

The company has set an ambitious target to increase its global turnover to $10 billion by 2030, indicating that Bangladesh remains a key part of its growth strategy, he added.

In response, Khandaker Abdul Muktadir noted that Bangladesh is rapidly advancing as an emerging economy.

He stated that the government's policy support and various reform initiatives have resulted in a highly satisfactory investment climate.

The Minister emphasized that the government prioritizes foreign investment to ensure sustainable economic development and provides all necessary cooperation to investors.

The Minister further remarked that such investments from global players like Japfa would strengthen the domestic agriculture and poultry sectors, contributing significantly to the nation's overall economic growth.

The meeting was also attended by the Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Listyowati, Bay Group Managing Director Ziaur Rahman, and Director Asifur Rahman.
