Religious education plays vital role in nation-building: KCC Administrator

KHULNA, April 8, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju today said religious education plays a vital role in nation-building, stressing the need to raise children with proper moral and religious values.

"As Muslims, we should ensure that our children receive religious education, as it helps them grow into responsible and ideal human beings," he said.

He made the remarks while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of the annual sports competition at KCC-run Darul Quran Dakhil Madrasa in the city's Khalishpur area this afternoon as the chief guest.

Emphasizing the development of the madrasa as a model educational institution, Manju urged authorities to ensure an environment where guardians feel confident to enroll their children.

He congratulated both teachers and students and called upon the teachers to be more sincere in their teaching to earn the trust and confidence of all.

The madrasa currently has around 400 students from classes I to X. This year, nine students from class V and two from class VIII secured scholarships under both talent pool and general grades.

The KCC administrator distributed prizes among scholarship recipients and winners of the sports competition and wished a bright future for the students.

Acting superintendent Najmunnahar Begum presided over the function.

Among others, former councilors Abu Saleq and Master Shafiqul Alam, former education and cultural officer SKM Tashaduzzaman, principal of Khulishpur Collegiate Girls School Md Shahidul Alam, and social worker Md Zahidur Rahman Ripon spoke as special guests.
