
KHULNA, April 8, 2026 (BSS) - An awareness programme titled "Complaint Box Initiative Against Gender-Based Violence" was held today at Fatima High School here in the city, aiming to raise awareness and prevent gender-based violence among students.
The programme was organized by the Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Victim Support Center, with support from Navolok and WaterAid. KMP Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Hasan attended as the chief guest.
In his address, the commissioner emphasized that students are the future of the nation and should grow into honest, aware and responsible citizens. He encouraged them not to remain silent in the face of injustice, violence or harassment, but to report such incidents with courage.
He explained that the complaint box has been installed to ensure students' safety and protect their rights, allowing them to report concerns without fear. He assured that every complaint would be taken seriously and necessary actions would be taken promptly.
The commissioner also advised students to contact the police directly or call the national emergency number 999 when needed. Highlighting the issue of online harassment, he urged them to report incidents of cyberbullying or blackmail to the Cyber Police Center of the CID, especially when using platforms like Facebook, Imo or WhatsApp.
He expressed hope that such initiatives would contribute to creating a safe, violence-free and supportive educational environment.
Among those present at the event were Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Mohammad Rashidul Islam Khan, Deputy Police Commissioner (South) Mohammad Tajul Islam, Navolok Director Fahmida Sultana, Abdullah Al Mamun, District Secondary Education Officer SM Sayedur Rahman as well as teachers and students of the school.
