National University signs MoU with ACCA to boost skilled workforce

DHAKA, April 8, 2026(BSS) -National University has signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
(ACCA) to help develop a skilled workforce in the country.

The MoU was signed yesterday at the residence of the British High
Commissioner in the capital.

The signing took place in the presence of UK Trade Envoy to Bangladesh and
member of the House of Lords, Baroness Rosie Winterton, and British High
Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke.

The agreement was signed by Vice-Chancellor of National University Professor
Dr. A S M Amanullah and ACCA Bangladesh Country Manager Proma Tapasi Khan,
FCCA, along with Senior Business Development Manager Shah Waliul Manzur.

Among others, Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Lutfor Rahman, Acting Director
of the International Desk Raj Bin Kashem, Section Officer Nusrat Islam,
Director of Trade at the British High Commission Sakib Ershad, and Trade and
Investment Manager Syed Habibur Rahman were present.


The MoU aims to help National University students gain skills that meet the
demands of national and international employers and prepare them for careers
in the corporate sector, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), accounting
firms, and the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector.


It was stated that under this partnership, National University graduates will
have access to the ACCA qualification pathway, starting with the Certified
Accounting Technician (CAT) programme. This initiative will create
opportunities for academic advancement and globally recognized professional
qualifications, enhancing employability.


Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A S M Amanullah said the strategic
collaboration marks a significant step forward in employability and will help
build a strong foundation for accounting and finance education in Bangladesh.
He added that the partnership between the two major institutions will
facilitate knowledge exchange, capacity building, and integration of global
standards into the education system.


Baroness Rosie Winterton expressed her pleasure at witnessing the signing,
noting that the agreement formally establishes a new partnership aimed at
expanding access to international qualifications for around 25,000 students
of National University, highlighting it as another strong example of UK-
Bangladesh cooperation.

ACCA Bangladesh Country Manager Proma Tapasi Khan said that for many
students, education is not just about earning a degree but becoming
employable. She added that this partnership will create a practical pathway
for NU students to begin their careers through the CAT programme.
