DHAKA, Apr 8, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) today celebrated its 54th anniversary through a series of programmes highlighting its achievements and future reform agenda.

The programme heralded with the placing of wreath at the Martyr Memorial within the Commission premises, followed by a balloon release to formally inaugurate the celebrations. 

A documentary showcasing the Commission’s recent accomplishments was screened, and a discussion session was held at the multipurpose hall of the BPSC Secretariat.

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Public Administration, Md. Ismail Zabihullah, attended the event as the chief guest, while Md. Ehsanul Hoque, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, was present as the special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest extended greetings on the anniversary and described April 8 as a significant milestone not only for a constitutional body but also for evaluating the country’s administrative capability and leadership. 

He said the government’s electoral manifesto 2026 places strong emphasis on building a robust Public Service Commission under state system reforms.

He noted that around 400,000 to 500,000 candidates participate in each BCS examination, making it one of the largest competitive exams globally. 

Those who succeed, he said, play a crucial role in shaping administrative leadership in the country.

Highlighting reform priorities, he stressed that the entire BCS recruitment process should be completed within one year. 

He underscored the need for modernization and efficiency in recruitment to quickly bring talented youths into public service.

The adviser expressed optimism that with professionalism and collective effort, the BPSC would evolve into a more modern, efficient, and trusted institution. 

He also expressed satisfaction over the absence of question leak incidents during the Commission’s current tenure, and called for ensuring merit, justice, and dedication as the guiding principles of administration.

In his remarks, the special guest congratulated the Commission on its achievements and urged it to create opportunities for candidates from the administration cadre to also enter technical and professional cadres.

The programme was presided over by BPSC Chairman Professor Dr Mobasser  Monem. 

He said the Commission is working on a roadmap to complete BCS examinations within one year and emphasized the importance of administrative independence in achieving this goal.

Secretary of the BPSC Md. Sanwar Jahan Bhuiyan delivered welcome remarks. 

Officers and staff of the Commission were also present at the programme.
