Bangladesh Bar Council Election set for May 19

DHAKA, April 4, 2026 (BSS) - The election to the Bangladesh Bar Council, the apex regulatory body for lawyers in the country, will be held on May 19.

The decision was taken unanimously at a meeting of the Bar Council held on Thursday, according to a press release signed by its Secretary (District and Sessions Judge) Mohammad Kamal Hossain Sikder.

Attorney General and Bangladesh Bar Council Chairman Senior Advocate Barrister Md. Ruhul Quddus Kazal presided over the meeting. 

The meeting, held at the Bar Council building in the capital, was attended by Finance Committee Chairman A.S.M. Badrul Anwar; Legal Education Committee Chairman Senior Advocate Abdullah Al Mamun; Relief Committee Chairman Advocate Md. Shafiqul Islam; Roll and Publication Committee Chairman Advocate Md. Mynul Ahoshan; House Committee Chairman Md. Mohosin Miah; Law Reform Committee Chairman Advocate Kazi Enayet Hossain and council members Advocate A.T.M. Foyez Uddin, Senior Advocate Shah Md. Khasruzzaman and Advocate Md. Nazrul Islam Khan.
