RANGPUR, April 4, 2026 (BSS) - Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain has said the government is working to ensure that children in government-run children's home (Sarkari Shishu Paribar) grow up as self-reliant individuals and valuable assets to the nation rather than burdens on society.

The minister made the remarks while speaking to journalists after a surprise visit to a government children's home at Modern Mor in Rangpur city on Friday evening.

He also warned that no form of corruption involving children would be tolerated, reiterating the government's zero-tolerance policy.

He said the government is committed to improving the living standards of underprivileged children and ensuring all necessary facilities so they do not feel deprived or without family support.

During the visit, he interacted with the children about their future goals, studies, food, healthcare, sports, living conditions and cleanliness and gave necessary directives to officials concerned.

Officials of the Department of Social Services were present.
