Govt to procure 2 cargoes LNG, 1 lakh MTs Diesel

DHAKA, April 4, 2026 (BSS) - The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase today approved separate proposals for procuring two cargoes of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and one lakh metric tons of Diesel to meet the growing demand for energy in the country amid global geopolitical instability.

The approvals came from the 14th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase this year held today virtually with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair, said Cabinet Division officials.

The day's meeting approved a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division to procure two cargoes of LNG from Aramco Trading Singapore Pte Ltd.

Besides, the meeting also considered and thus approved a proposal to import one lakh metric tons of 50 PPM Sulphur Diesel from Kazakh Gas Processing Plant LLP with around Taka 689.29 crore through the DPM method under international purchase.
