DHAKA, April 4, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. M A Muhit has called on all parents to actively participate in ensuring vaccination for children and to help make the programme successful.

He made this appeal in a video message today.

To combat the outbreak of measles in the country, the government is launching an emergency measles-rubella vaccination campaign starting tomorrow. The special campaign will begin simultaneously at 9:00 am on Sunday in 30 upazilas across 18 districts.

Urging people in the concerned areas to participate in and support the campaign, M A Muhit said, "under this initiative, all children aged between six months and under five years will be vaccinated against measles and rubella. However, children who are currently suffering from measles or fever will not receive the vaccine for the time being."

The campaign will be expanded gradually to areas where measles outbreaks are increasing or have already increased.

The State Minister assured that the government has taken comprehensive preparations to address the situation. He also expressed hope that the current measles situation will be brought under control quickly through this vaccination campaign.
