SAFF winning Bangladesh team returns home

DHAKA, April 4, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh U-20 youth football team returned home from Maldives this evening after winning the coveted title of the SAFF U-20 Championship.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) officials were present at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to welcome the Bangladesh U-20 youth football team.

To make their historic victory memorable, the Bangladesh U-20 football team was later taken from airport directly to a night reception at the Hatirjheel Amphitheatre.
 
Earlier, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 2-0 goals and played out to a 1-1 with in their group phase engagement.

In the first semi final, Bangladesh edged past defeating Nepal by 1-0 goal while in the final Bangladesh beat India by 4-3 goals in penalty shootout to win the SAFF title.

In recognition of the players' outstanding achievements, the State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque also announced cash reward for the Bangladesh youth football team.
