Notification issued fixing working hours for govt- private offices

DHAKA, April 4, 2026 (BSS) - The Ministry of Public Administration today issued a notification rescheduling the working hours of government and private offices.

The notification stated that the government has fixed the working hours of all government and private offices from Sunday to Thursday between 9 am and 4 pm while Friday and Saturday are weekly holidays.

It said emergency services will remain out of the purview of the new office schedule.

According to the instructions of the Cabinet Division, the schedule for banks and financial institutions will be 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and banking services will be from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. In this regard, Bangladesh Bank will take necessary measures.

The Supreme Court will issue necessary instructions regarding the determination of court office hours.

For private sector industries, factories, and establishments, working hours will be determined in accordance with the Bangladesh Labour Act, 2006, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment will issue necessary instructions in this regard.
