Saudi envoy calls on PM

DHAKA, Feb 22, 2026 (BSS) - Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Abdullah 
Zafer H Bin Abiyah today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister 
Tarique Rahman.

He met the premier at the Cabinet Division in the Bangladesh 
Secretariat here around 11am, Prime Minister's Press Secretary Saleh 
Shibly told BSS. 

The Prime Minister conveyed his respectful regards to The Custodian of 
the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as 
well as to His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz 
Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi 
Arabia.

During the meeting, they discussed existing friendly relations and the 
issues of mutual interest between the two Muslim countries.

The ambassador congratulated the premier on assuming office and 
expressed hope that ties between Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh would be 
further strengthened.

They also discussed the upcoming Hajj, the press secretary added.

Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman and the Prime Minister's adviser 
Humayun Kabir were present in the meeting.

Earlier, the Prime Minister came to his Cabinet Division office at 
9:05 am while his Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar received him.
