DHAKA, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh and China have pledged to enhance cooperation in education, technology and language learning.

The commitment came during a courtesy call by Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka Yao Wen on Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon at the secretariat here today.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj was present there.

The meeting focused on developing Bangladesh's youth as skilled human resources through technical and Chinese language education.

Around 10,000 students are expected to benefit from Chinese language and technical training, opening employment opportunities in at least 17 countries.

The meeting also informed that activities have already started in various higher education institutions of the country to promote Chinese language education.

This initiative is being implemented jointly with Dhaka University, North South University, BRAC University and the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Apart from this, it was also informed that there is a plan to launch Chinese language education programs at Chittagong University this year.

The Chinese side proposed 300 smart classrooms, nine broadcasting centres and modern lab facilities.

They also expressed interest in building a modern hall for female DU students and arranging scholarships for polytechnic students. Bangladesh will submit a formal proposal next week to this end.

Minister Milon said the initiatives would modernise technical and polytechnic education in line with industry needs, while the ambassador invited a Bangladeshi delegation to China for practical training.
