DHAKA, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS)- Election Commission has announced schedule for the by-election to Bogura-6 and election to Sherpur-3 parliamentary seats of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad.

According to schedule, voting in the two constituencies will be held on April 9, from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm without interruption, an EC circular said.

Deadline for collection and submission of nomination papers is March 2. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on March 5.

Appeals against the decisions on acceptance or rejection of the nomination papers by returning officers will be held from March 6 to 10 and the appeals will be disposed on March 11.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 14, and election symbols will be allotted on March 15.

The circular stated that aspiring candidates can collect and submit nomination papers from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm everyday including public holidays.

During Ramadan, offices will remain open from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm and after Ramadan from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Until the completion of the election all concerned offices will remain open on weekly and public holidays. Necessary arrangements may also be made to keep offices open beyond regular hours if required.

The circular stated that under no circumstances any nomination paper would be accepted after 3:30 pm on the last date for submission, and no candidate will be allowed to withdraw nomination after 3:30 pm on the final date for withdrawal.

The EC postponed polls to Sherpur-3 seat following the demise of a valid contesting candidate before the February 12 national election.

Bogura-6 constituency fell vacant after BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, now Prime Minister, relinquished the seat after securing victory in two constituencies in the 13th national parliamentary election.
