68,768 students get Junior, Dakhil 8th and Ebtedayi scholarships

DHAKA, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS)- The results of the Junior Scholarship Examination 2025 for Class VIII, Madrasa Dakhil Class VIII, Ebtedayi Class V, and Technical JS and JD (Vocational) Scholarship Examinations under the nine general education boards have been published.

A total of 68,768 students from the general, madrasa and technical education boards have received scholarships.

Education, Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon formally inaugurated the publication of the scholarship results at a press conference held at the Ministry of Education at the Secretariat this afternoon.

State Minister for Education, Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj announced the details of the scholarships at the press conference.

Bobby Hajjaj said that a total of 68,768 students from general, madrasa and technical boards across the country have received the scholarships. Out of these, 46,200 students are being given these scholarships under nine general education boards while 14,700 are 'merit scholarships' and 31,500 are ‘general scholarships’.

Besides, he said, a total of 22,568 students of the Madrasa are being given scholarships in the Ebtedayi 5th grade, Dakhil 8th grade, and JS and JD (vocational) levels. Of   these, 11,180 are in the Ebtedayi 5th grade, 11,180 in the Dakhil 8th grade, and 208 in the JS and JD.

Bobby Hajjaj said, “This scholarship is recognition of the students' talent and hard work. They are the leaders of our future. Those who did not get the scholarship this time have no reason to be disappointed; if they continue to work hard, there will be many more opportunities for success in life.”

He thanked the teachers and parents for their contribution behind the success.

It is mentionable that meritorious students who received the scholarships from the General Education Board will receive a monthly grant of Taka 450 and a one-time grant of Taka 560 annually. 

And general scholarship recipients will receive Taka 300 monthly and Taka 350 annually. 

On the other hand, meritorious students in the 5th and 8th grades of madrasas will receive a scholarship of Taka 600 and general scholarship recipients will receive a scholarship of Taka 450. 

A total of 315,160 students participated in the Junior Scholarship Examination under nine general education boards. On the other hand, 63,930 students participated in the Ebtedayi 5th class and 43,709 students participated in the Dakhil 8th class under the Madrasa Education Board, 2611 students participated in the JS and JD (Vocational) examinations under the Technical Education Board.

Board-wise results analysis shows that the maximum number of students who received scholarships was 11,384 in Dhaka Board (Merit 3622, General 7762). 

Among other boards, 6,027 students received scholarships in Rajshahi, 5,252 in Cumilla, 5,205 in Jashore, 5,691 in Dinajpur, 3,857 in Chattogram, 3,017 in Sylhet, 3,032 in Mymensingh and 2,735 students received scholarships in Barisal Board. 

The scholarship exam was held across the country from December 28, 2025 to January 5, 2026. 

A total of 400 marks were taken in the General Education Board in 5 subjects.

Bobby Hajjaj said that the government is going to take more new initiatives to support students and improve the quality of education.
