RANGAMATI, March 3, 2026 (BSS) - Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan today underscored the need for affluent members of
society to stand beside the government in supporting the helpless and extremely poor.
The minister was addressing a function as the chief guest at the Old Bus Stand area in Rangamati town this morning. In the event, he distributed Eid
essentials among more than a thousand underprivileged people of the district.
The programme was organised by the family of noted businessman and social worker Sahab Uddin.
BNP leader Manas Mukur Chakma, Maulana Harun, Hafez Md. Afsar Uddin and other local dignitaries were present.
Dipen said collective efforts, irrespective of party affiliation, are essential to ensure that underprivileged communities in the hills can
celebrate the Holy Eid-ul-Fitr in a festive and dignified manner.
He said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has initiated various welfare-oriented programmes for the people of the country.
In line with that vision, he said, steps are being taken to ensure harmony and peaceful coexistence among all communities, including hill people and
Bengalis living in the region.
Expressing optimism, the minister said social and religious festivals of all communities would be celebrated in an inclusive manner in the days to come.
