RUET hosts International Women’s Day Debate Competition

RAJSHAHI, March 8, 2026 (BSS)- An “International Women’s Day 2026 Debate Competition” was held at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) marking International Women’s Day. 

The competition was organized by the BRAC Social Compliance Program today at the university hall room.
 
A total of six students participated in the competition, divided into two groups representing the government and opposition teams.

The judges included Assistant Professor Z H M Monjur Morshed from the Department of Architecture, Assistant Professor Abu Ismail Siddiqui from the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, and Assistant Professor Aishi Jyoti from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
 
The government team emerged as the winner. Md. Naim was selected as the best debater from the government team, while Homaira Tabassum was named the best debater from the opposition team.
 
At the prize-giving ceremony following the competition, Professor Dr. Md. Robiul Islam Sarkar, Director of the Student Welfare Office at RUET, attended as the chief guest.
 
He said that International Women’s Day reminds everyone that men and women are entitled to equal dignity.

Prof Rabiul added that ensuring respect, security, and empowerment for women is essential for building a just and prosperous society.

The country will move forward only when these values are upheld. This forum also believes that establishing women’s rights brings positive change for men as well.
