Opposition leader pays tribute to Liberation War martyrs

DHAKA, Mar 26, 2026 (BSS) - Leader of the Opposition and Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman paid tributes to the Liberation War martyrs by placing wreaths at the National Memorial here in the capital marking the 56th Independence and National Day. 

Early this morning at the National Memorial in Savar, he offered prayers for the departed souls of all those who were martyred in the Liberation War and prayed for peace, prosperity, and well-being of the country.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman was accompanied by Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer ATM Azharul Islam, Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam, Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, member of the Central Executive Council and Dhaka Metropolitan South Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, Central Executive Council member Mobarak Hossain and Central Executive Council member, and Dhaka City South Secretary General Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud.
