Independence Day observed with due dignity in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, March 26, 2026 (BSS) - Independence and National Day was observed with due dignity and various programs on March 26 at the initiative of the upazila administration in Mollahat of the district. 

On the occasion of the day, the upazila administration first paid tribute at the Shaheed Bedi in the upazila compound at sunrise today. Later, Mollahat Thana, Mollahat Highway Thana, Upazila Health Complex, Fire Service Station, Government Wazed Memorial Model Secondary School, Shaheed Hemayet Uddin Secondary Girls School, Upazila BNP and its affiliates, Press Club Mollahat and various social and educational institutions paid tribute to the heroes of the soil. 

Besides, various programs were celebrated throughout the day to uphold the spirit of the Liberation War.

The program was presided over by Upazila Executive Officer Shyamananda and was attended by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sushmita Saha, Thana Officer-in-Charge Kazi Ramjanul Haque, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Mohammad Hasan Ali, Upazila Engineer Ferdous Alam, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Rajib Roy and officials from various departments. 

In addition, BNP National Standing Committee member Bir Muktijoddha Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Upazila BNP President Sheikh Hafizur Rahman, General Secretary Md. Harun Al Rashid, Former President Chowdhury Selim Ahmed, Former General Secretary Sheikh Shahed Ali, Jamaat Nayeb-e-Amir Hafez Abdus Sabur Sikder, Secretary Hafez Md. Hedayet Ullah, Press Club Mollahat General Secretary M.M. Mofizur Rahman, along with brave freedom fighters, political leaders, teachers, journalists and people from various classes and professions. 

 The program was moderated by Upazila Academic Supervisor Rampad Biswas and Women's Affairs Officer Runia Akhter.
