KHULNA, April 13, 2026 (BSS) - A colourful kite festival was held today at Khulna University (KU), marking Chaitra Sankranti, the last day of the Bangla calendar.

Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim inaugurated the festival by flying a kite at the university's central field around 5pm.

The festival witnessed huge enthusiasm among students as kites of various colours and shapes filled the sky. Butterfly, snake, kite-bird, eagle and fish-shaped kites were the main attractions. Spontaneous participation of teachers, students and common people adds vibrancy to the celebration.

Speaking on the occasion, the VC said the kite festival marking Chaitra Sankranti has become a tradition at KU. Such festivals are not merely for recreation but also serve as an important medium to connect with the country's history, heritage and roots.

Among others, Bangla New Year 1433 Celebration Committee President and Dean of the School of Management and Business Administration Prof Dr Rumana Haque, Member Secretary of the committee and Director of Student Affairs Prof Dr Md Najmus Sadat, teachers of different disciplines, and a large number of students were present.
