TANGAIL, April 13, 2026 (BSS) - Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam today visited Shaheed Maruf Stadium in the district to inspect preparations for the upcoming farmer card distribution programme.
The inspection was carried out ahead of tomorrow's event where Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to inaugurate the distribution of farmer cards.
Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan was present during the visit.
Speaking on the occasion, Faqir Mahbub Anam said the Prime Minister's initiative for farmers' welfare is a landmark step that would help make the country's agricultural sector more dynamic and accelerate development activities.
The minister reviewed overall preparations for the programme in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque, Superintendent of Police and other senior administrative officials as well as local leaders.
He also provided necessary directives to the concerned officials to ensure the programme is held smoothly and successfully. After the inspection, the minister briefed journalists on the overall arrangements for the event.
According to the election manifesto 2026 of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), the Prime Minister will formally inaugurate the farmer card distribution programme at Shaheed Maruf Stadium tomorrow.
The farmer card is being considered a key initiative to ensure digital identification of farmers and facilitate easier access to government services.
