Info Minister greets country's people on Pahela Baishakh

DHAKA, April 14, 2026 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon has extended greetings to the people of the country on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh, the Bangla New Year 1433.

In a felicitation message issued today, the minister said the tradition of the Bangla New Year was originally introduced to facilitate farmers in maintaining records of their crops.

He said Bangla New Year represents the Bangalee culture as well as the agricultural economy. 

The incumbent government is taking future plans by keeping agriculture at the centre of the economy, he noted.

Swapon added that, the government has dedicated Bangla New Year 1433 to the country's farmers and the agricultural economy.
