The Minister highlighted Bangladesh's commitment to strengthening its position in the global maritime industry by developing skilled manpower.
Robiul Alam also roads highway and bridge Minister made these remarks during his address as the chief guest at the 'Passing Out Parade' of the 28th batch of the Chattogram Maritime Institute today.
The Shipping Minister referred to the new cadets as valuable assets of the country and the nation. He emphasized that education is not just about acquiring knowledge but also essential for physical and mental development.
The Minister highlighted that the professionalism and smartness of the cadets will enhance Bangladesh's reputation in the global arena when they work in various ports worldwide.
Acknowledging the challenges faced during training, the minister pointed out that the majority of the world is covered by water, making the sea a crucial component of the global economy. He encouraged the cadets to excel in their respective departments, whether in ship management or navigation, by demonstrating honesty and determination.
Emphasizing the significance of technical and skill-based education, Sheikh Rabiul Alam highlighted that certificate-based education often leads to unemployment, whereas technical education, such as maritime training, offers guaranteed employment opportunities. The skilled workforce produced by this institute since the nineties has significantly contributed to the country's economy. The government aims to further modernize and expand this sector in the future.
During the event, the minister provided practical advice, including the importance of using sunscreen for prolonged sun exposure, and emphasized health awareness to ensure the physical well-being of the cadets. The orderly parade and impressive skills displayed by the cadets during the passing out parade left a positive impression on the teachers, officials, and parents in attendance.
