Dhaka, April 22, 2026 (BSS) - Judicial proceedings of both Appellate and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court were conducted virtually today, considering the global energy situation.

In the morning, a five-member Appellate Division bench led by the Chief Justice began proceedings through virtual presence. Subsequently, the High Court benches also started their judicial activities virtually.

Meanwhile, the Chamber Judge Court of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court was conducted virtually in the afternoon.

The apex court on April 20 decided to hold virtual proceedings in both its Appellate and High Court Divisions on Wednesday and Thursday, starting from today.

A notification, signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Mohammad Habibur Rahman Siddiquee, said the decision was taken considering the current global energy situation, in line with the Information and Communication Technology Use in Courts Act, 2020 (Act No. 11 of 2020), and the practice directions issued by the Supreme Court.

Courts will continue to operate physically on other working days, it added.
