
DHAKA, April 22, 2026 (BSS)- State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam has called upon the administrators of city corporations to reach out to the citizens and demonstrate their competence in carrying out their duties to serve the people.
“Tour the city and engage with the people to reach the services in proper manner,” he said while addressing as the chief guest at a review meeting on the progress of development activities of city corporations at the conference room of the Local Government Division here today.
Administrators from nine city corporations-Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet, Barishal, Gazipur, Cumilla, Rangpur, Narayanganj, and Mymensingh presented updates on the progressing projects and highlighted existing challenges.
Shahe Alam said that maximum preparedness must be ensured to deliver expected services to the people.
He assured that the ministry would provide all administrative and technical support to carry out overall activities and implement the projects of the city corporations.
Emphasizing regular monitoring after project approval, he also advised city corporations to undertake water and sewerage projects based on needs and demand.
He instructed that all legal complications should be resolved and vacant positions filled up quickly to accelerate project implementation.
Laying importance on close supervision at field level, the state minister said all concerned should be cautious in project’s feasibility assessment to avoid future complications.
He called for quickly identifying challenges and accelerating implementation through coordinated efforts saying no project work should be disrupted due to the energy crisis.
Local Government Division Secretary Md. Shahidul Hassan chaired the meeting while senior officials of the city corporations, LGRD ministry and project directors were present.
