Rain likely to ease heat from tomorrow: Met office

DHAKA, Apr 25, 2026 (BSS) - Rainfall may occur in Dhaka division tomorrow, while the country's temperature will fall easing the suffering of people from ongoing heatwave, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
 
"There is a possibility of rainfall tomorrow. Temperatures in Dhaka are expected to start falling from tomorrow or the day after," meteorologist Md Tariful Newaz Kabir told BSS.

He said rainfall has already occurred in the country's northern region, including Rangpur, Mymensigh and Sylhet, and rainfall activity is expected to increase.

"Gradually, rain will spread to central and southern regions, bringing relief from the heat," Kabir said.

He said rainfall is likely to occur in Dhaka division in the next few days, so temperature will fall there.

"Mild heatwave is sweeping over Khulna division and the districts of Dhaka, Madaripur, Gopalgonj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajgonj, Patuakhali, Rangamati, Bandarban, Laxmipur & Feni, and it may continue at places," said a Met office bulletin issued this morning. 

Besides, it forecasted that light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions. 

It also said rain may occur at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderate to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions in next 24 hours commencing from 9 am. 

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the bulletin said.

The highest temperature was recorded on Friday was 37.8 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi, and today's minimum temperature was 22.3 degrees Celsius in Tetulia under Rangpur division.
