DHAKA, April 26, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj today said that the government is giving highest priority to recruit qualified and competent teachers to ensure quality primary education.

“All necessary steps are being taken in accordance with the prescribed rules and regulations for recruiting competent teachers at primary level,” he said this when a seven-member delegation of recommended candidates for the post of assistant teachers met him at his office in the Secretariat here.

A large number of primary school teachers have been staging a protest at Shahbagh in the capital demanding their appointment letters.

The delegation urged the minister to expedite the issuance of their appointment letters and drew his attention to the current situation.

During the meeting, Bobby Hajjaj said that the recruitment process for primary school teachers is progressing at a normal pace as per rules and regulations. He added that each stage of the process will be completed properly and the recruitment will be finalized accordingly.

He called upon the protesters to have confidence in the ongoing process and to suspend their movement without causing public suffering. He also urged them to show patience and restraint and return to their respective destinations.
