
DHAKA, Apr 29, 2026 (BSS) - Delegation of various United Nations agencies led by Susan Vize, head of the UNESCO Bangladesh office, paid a courtesy call on State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque at his secretariat office today (Wednesday).
The delegation included UNDP deputy resident representative Sonali Dayaratne, UN Women partnership annalist Syeda Samara Mortada, UNFPA technical officer Habibur Rahman, and ILO country officer Gunjan B. Dallakoti.
The meeting was held focusing on youth development and related policy matters in Bangladesh.
The delegation highlighted the proposed Youth Voice Mechanism (YVM) project, outlining its key activities and implementation plan. They emphasized the initiative’s importance in amplifying the voices of young people at the national level.
The representatives also briefed the State Minister on updating the National Youth Policy and youth entrepreneurship strategies in line with evolving needs, seeking government support in this regard.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation between the Government of Bangladesh and various UN agencies. Emphasis was given on ensuring inclusive participation and empowerment of youth from all segments of society, alongside identifying priority areas to achieve long-term development goals.
The delegation expressed optimism that the discussion would further energize ongoing youth development initiatives. The State Minister welcomed the proposals and assured that necessary steps would be taken to advance the overall welfare and meaningful participation of the country’s youth.
