SANGSAD BHABAN, April 29, 2026 (BSS) – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today said that process is underway to implement the ‘Guchchhagram (cluster village) Phase-3 Project’ to rehabilitate landless, homeless and disaster-affected families in the country.

“Under the Ministry of Land, process is underway to adopt the Guchchhagram Phase-3 Project to rehabilitate landless, homeless, address-less, and disaster-affected families, including those impacted by river erosion,” he said.

The Leader of the House said this while replying to a question from treasury bench member from Bhola-2 constituency Md Hafiz Ibrahim in the Jatiya Sangsad with Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, in the chair.

Tarique Rahman, also ruling BNP chairman, said that his government is firmly committed to ensuring sustainable housing and improving the socio-economic conditions of landless, homeless, destitute, and underprivileged families.

He said, earlier, after BNP formed the government in 2001, a housing project was undertaken under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) with the objective of rehabilitating landless, homeless, destitute and distressed families across the country.

The project was implemented from 2001 to 2006 with the aim of rehabilitating 65,000 families, the premier added.

Regarding housing facility expansion for low and middle-income groups, he said the National Housing Authority, under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, undertakes well-planned housing expansion projects for low- and middle-income people and affordable housing construction projects for low-income people at the district and upazila levels across the country.

The Prime Minister noted that although there is currently no housing project under the PMO, steps would be taken in future based on feasibility and demand.
