LAXMIPUR, June 1, 2026 (BSS) - Two Bangladeshi nationals, hailed from Lakshmipur, were killed in a road accident in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

The deceased were identified as Harunur Rashid Harun and Russell Hossain.

They were residents of Uttar Hamchadi area under Lakshmipur Sadar upazila.

News of their deaths reached the family on Monday afternoon, casting a pall of gloom over the area.

According to local and family sources, Harunur Rashid and Russell Hossain had been living in Saudi Arabia for a long time.

On Sunday night, while travelling on a motorcycle in Riyadh, their vehicle collided with a camel on a road, leaving them seriously injured. They were later rescued and taken to a hospital, where the attending doctors declared them dead.

The father of Harun, Taslim Uddin, said in a tear-choked voice, "My son went abroad in an attempt to fulfil our dreams. He was sent abroad after borrowing money. We never imagined he would return as a body. We request the government to bring back the bodies quickly."

In this regard, Lakshmipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kyathowai Prue Marma, said the death of the two expatriate youths is extremely tragic. Necessary steps will be taken to bring back the bodies and ensure support for the families.

"The administration will extend full cooperation based on the family's application," he added.
