
DHAKA, April 29, 2026 (BSS) - One more person has died in the country with measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours, according to a press release sent from the control center of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) here today.
It said that in the last 24 hours, 1,318 new suspected measles patients have been identified across the country and 88 laboratory-confirmed patients have been found.
The release said that from March 15 to April 29, the total number of confirmed measles patients is 4,988 and the number of suspected measles patients is 35,980.
Besides, 28,310 people have been admitted to the hospital with suspected measles and 20,822 have recovered from the hospital and returned home.
Since March 15, 47 people have died from confirmed measles. At the same time, 227 people have died from suspected measles.
During this period, the highest number of suspected measles cases was reported in Dhaka Division, where a total of 16,263 people were infected. Of these, 3,371 people have been confirmed to have measles.
The DGHS is continuously monitoring the situation and is regularly collecting and analyzing information through the Integrated Control Center.
In addition to ensuring necessary medical care for patients, the people have been advised to remain vigilant.
