All Govt activities aimed at people's welfare: Faqir Mahbub

DHAKA, May 2, 2026 (BSS) - Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam, MP has said all activities of the government are directed towards the welfare of the people.

"The well-being of the people means the well-being of the government. The government will not undertake any action that harms the public; rather, it will continue to work for their development at all times," he said. 

Faqir Mahbub, also Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, made this remark while addressing as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organised by the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal at Madhupur bus stand in Tangail on the occasion of the Great May Day on Friday, said a ministry press release today.

He said the government has already started implementing its electoral pledges and has taken various development initiatives within just two months of assuming office. 

To address the country's power shortage, fuel loading at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant has been inaugurated, he said, expressing hope that the power crisis would be significantly reduced once electricity generation begins from August.

Faqir Mahbub Anam further said ensuring dignity for workers and fostering a spirit of mutual cooperation are very important. 

Initiatives have been taken to create skilled manpower and expand overseas labour markets, which will play a positive role in the country's economy, he noted.

BNP National Executive Committee Member Advocate Nuruzzaman Suruj, valiant freedom fighter MA Samad, Upazila BNP President Zakir Hossain Sarkar and Upazila Sramik Dal General Secretary Chan Mia spoke at the function.

With Upazila Sramik Dal President Md Abdul Hakim in the chair, the programme was attended, among others, by Poura BNP President Khurram Khan Yusufji Prince, local leaders and government officials concerned were present.

Later, the minister inaugurated the construction work of a Hafezia madrasah building at Bhaighat area under Dhanbari upazila. At a separate event held there, he highlighted the government's progress over the past two months. Dhanbari Upazila BNP President Principal M Azizur Rahman also spoke at the event.
