PM mourns death of Begum Jebunnesa

DHAKA, May 6, 2026 (BSS) – Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Begum Jebunnesa, mother of Social Welfare, Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain.

“Highly dedicated to the teaching profession, Jebunnesa educated countless students with her talent and qualifications, who are now established in society and contributing to the country,” the premier said in a condolence message.   

As an ideal mother, Jebunnesa raised her children with proper education, he said, adding, late Jebunnesa was highly respected by all concerned as a noble woman. 

“I pray for the forgiveness of her soul and express deep sympathy to the bereaved family members, relatives, admirers and well-wishers,” said Tarique Rahman.

Begum Jebunnesa breathed her last at 5.38 am today at a city hospital while undergoing treatment. She had been suffering from various old age complications.

She was 83.
