MANIKGANJ, May 9, 2026 (BSS) - Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed early today after remaining suspended for one hour due to a nor'wester, officials said.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager Abdus Salam said ferry movement on the route was suspended at around 3:30 am as a nor'wester swept across the Padma River area, posing risks to passengers and vehicles.

The authorities concerned decided to halt ferry operations temporarily to ensure safety during the storm, he added.

Ferry services resumed at around 4:30 am after weather conditions improved, Salam said, adding that all ferries are now operating normally on the route.
