DHAKA, May 15, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Embassy in Seoul in collaboration with the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA) has successfully arranged a two-day semiconductor roadshow in South Korea.
The roadshow was arranged aimed at integrating Bangladesh into the global semiconductor value chain through international collaboration, talent development and advanced packaging initiatives.
The roadshow was held on May 12-13, bringing together policymakers, academics and industry leaders from both countries to explore cooperation opportunities in semiconductor manufacturing, design verification, embedded systems and advanced packaging, said a press release here today.
A 12-member BSIA delegation led by its President M A Jabbar participated in the programme and held a series of one-to-one meetings with Korean semiconductor design houses and the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association (KSIA).
Addressing a banquet reception held on the occasion, Bangladesh Ambassador to South Korea Toufiq Islam Shatil highlighted the prospects of bilateral collaboration in the semiconductor sector.
He referred to the Asian Development Bank’s proposed economic corridor from Teknaf to Tetulia as a potential hub for high-tech industrialization, creating opportunities for semiconductor manufacturing, advanced packaging and electronics industries.
BSIA President M A Jabbar stressed the importance of entering the semiconductor ecosystem through strategic sectors including design verification, embedded systems and advanced packaging.
The technical sessions featured presentations on the Silicon River' initiative by Prof Muhammad Mustafa Hussain of Purdue University, USA, along with capability overviews from seven BSIA member companies — Dynamic Solution Innovators, Test Bangladesh Limited, Ulkasemi Private Limited, Neural Semiconductor Ltd., PrimeSilicon Technology Inc., Siliconova Limited and MARS Solutions Limited.
On May 13, the delegation met senior officials of several semiconductor and research organisations, including the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), SK Hynix, Hana Micron, KSIA, Koolmicro, Y-Tech and Growith Associates.
A major outcome of the roadshow was the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) among the KAIST Global Commercialization Center (GCC), the Center of Research Excellence on Semiconductor Technology (CREST) and BSIA to promote joint research, talent development and capacity building in the semiconductor sector.
The organisers said the successful completion of the roadshow reflected the growing economic and technological partnership between Bangladesh and South Korea and would help Bangladesh’s emerging semiconductor industry benefit from Korean expertise and investment.
They added that Bangladesh Embassy in Seoul would continue supporting initiatives aimed at transforming Bangladesh into a global high-tech destination.
